Patient Group Support

AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Ireland Ltd is proud to have supported the following Patient Groups in 2009. In the interests of transparency a brief description of each activity supported is provided below:

Patient Groups

Irish Hospice Foundation:

The Irish Hospice Foundation supports the development of hospice care in the community. A donation towards fundraising was made during 2009.

Irish Oesophageal Cancer Fund:

The goal of this group is to improve the outcomes for patients with oesophageal cancer. AZ Ireland provided support for Lollipop Day 2009 fundraising. The purpose of the day is to increase awareness of the disease and to raise money for research and patient treatment.

Irish Patients' Association:

The Irish Patients’ Association aims to place the patients at the centre of healthcare; to improve the quality and service they receive; to improve the cost effectiveness and the availability of service and to protect the rights of patients. AZ Ireland made an unrestricted donation to The Irish Patients’ Association in 2009.

Spinal Injuries Ireland:

Spinal Injuries Ireland works to achieve social inclusion for people with disabilities through the provision of education, understanding and consensus. A donation towards fundraising was made during 2009.

Diabetes Federation of Ireland:
The aim of this patient group is to provide a quality service to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes and work with others to prevent and cure diabetes. AZ Ireland provided corporate support for this organization for 2009.
