Patient Group Support

AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Ireland Ltd is proud to have supported the following Patient Groups in 2011. In the interests of transparency a brief description of each activity supported is provided below:

Patient Groups

 

Arthritis Ireland

Arthritis Ireland work to transform the experience of people living with arthritis and those who care for them, by providing community based education programmes and advocacy.  AZ Ireland supported this patient advocacy group via the printing and distribution of patient information leaflets and provided support towards the Arthritis Ireland Services Innovation Awards and Grants Programme.

 

Asthma Society of Ireland

The purpose of the Asthma Society is to provide information, advice, and reassurance to people with asthma and their families, to act as advocate/representative for them, and to promote awareness and understanding of the condition amongst the general public. An unrestricted donation was provided to the Asthma Society of Ireland in 2011 in addition to the distribution of Patient Information Leaflets.

 

Aware

Aware is a voluntary organisation supporting people whose lives are directly affected by depression. The organisation offers practical support to patients as well as enabling research and education on depression. AZ Ireland supported this patient organisation via the distribution of Patient Information Leaflets in 2011.

 

Croí

Croí is a registered Irish heart charity, whose aim is to reduce the impact of heart disease & stroke on families living in the West of Ireland. Croí pursues this aim by supporting and developing initiatives across all areas of cardiac care, including patient care in the community, family support, disease prevention and community & professional education. AZ Ireland provided a donation of equipment to Croí in 2011.

 

Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland

The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland works to increase knowledge and awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and to give advice and support to people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.  A donation towards fundraising was made to this organization during 2011.

 

Diabetes Federation of Ireland
The aim of this patient group is to provide a quality service to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes and work with others to prevent and cure diabetes.  AZ Ireland provided corporate support to this organization in 2011.

 

Irish Heart Foundation

The Irish Heart Foundation is the national charity fighting stroke and heart disease through education, awareness, patient support research and advocacy. In addition to the distribution of Patient Information Leaflets and a donation of equipment, AZ provided support for the Irish Heart Foundations Heart Attack Awareness Campaign through a TV and digital media campaign in 2011.

 

Irish Oesophageal Cancer Fund

The goal of this group is to improve the outcomes for patients with oesophageal cancer. AZ Ireland provided support for Lollipop Day 2011 fundraising. The purpose of the day is to increase awareness of the disease and to raise money for research and patient treatment.

 

Irish Patients' Association

The Irish Patients’ Association aims to place the patients at the centre of healthcare; to improve the quality and service they receive; to improve the cost effectiveness and the availability of service and to protect the rights of patients.  AZ Ireland made an unrestricted donation to the Irish Patients’ Association in 2011 and supported the Lets Talk Suicide awareness campaign.
